Our mission is to deliver world-class automation to protect our community water resources, and a key to accomplishing that mission is our X-CEL program.
Our X-CEL program is designed to do three things to help us acheive our mission:
- Ensure that customers receive world class service every time because we make sure that no member of our team is in a job for which they are not prepared and qualified to perform at a world-class level
- Improve the skills and training of our team in order to provide advancement and growth opportunities
- Attract more great people to join our team. Excellent people want a chance to advance. Even more important, they want to be a part of an excellent team.
X-CEL provides every member of our team with a clear title and level of responsibility based upon certifications for jobs. Team members are encouraged to train for higher-level certifications and their pace of advancement depends primarily on how hard they are willing to work and how fast they want to progress.
For example, Drafters have three levels of certification corresponding to increasing levels of skill and experience. After reaching the highest levels, drafters can train for other jobs, including project manager, field technician, engineer, safety officer, or managerial jobs. After completing training, Drafters must pass a test (written, safety and practical) and must receive the approval of their mentor that they are ready to progress. Once they have received the higher-level certification, they will receive pay increases, higher bonus eligibility and/or a new title depending on the certification.
At MCC, the opportunity to grow and advance is there for people with the skills and willingness to earn it. It is an important part of who we are.

We currently have a large number of X-CEL certifications available, including the following:
- PT1,2,3 -- Production Technician
- DR1,2,3 -- Drafter
- ST1,2,3 -- Service (ie Field) Technician
- PM1,2,3 -- Project Manager
- SD1,2,3 -- Systems Designer or Engineer
- SP1,2,3 -- Systems Programmer
X-CEL Secondary Certifications
In addition, there are a wide range of secondary certifications available. Secondary certifications are held in addition to a primary job title. Examples of secondary certifications include:
- Forklift Operator
- Safety Officer
- X-CEL Coordinator
- Delivery
